It's cold outside!

I have been back in sunny Tokuyama for last two weeks, its cold and wet, with the odd bit of snow thrown in for good measure too.

The hotel room is like a fridge at night, (Unlike summer last year, when it was like an oven!), as I do not want to hear the air-conditioning heater fan whirring all night long, so I end up wrapping my self up in a duvet to keep warm. The other negative of using the hotel room air-conditioning unit to heat the room at night is, it takes all the moisture out of the air and I end up using loads of skin cream to keep my skin hydrated. (Elemis ‘Time to Spa, marine cream’ is very good stuff you know, if a little expensive!)

I circumnavigated Tokuyama a few time today and ended up going to see my friend at ‘Camera land’. I am always amazed by the amount of cameras this shop has inside and the old gentleman that owns and runs the shop is very friendly indeed. I passed over to him some English camera magazines for him to read and then I went to local supermarket to pick up some bits ‘n’ bobs. You really have to watch what you are buying in the shops now, as the exchange rate dive over the last few months has made Japan expensive. I am always fascinated with the size of the fruit in Japan. The lemons are like small melons and the apples are about two to three times the size of anything I have seen in England and they would easily put large cooking apples to shame.

I tend to walk in areas that I already know and it is quite fascinating to see the changes in the scenery, even over a few months. The huge Koi Carp I saw at the end of summer last year, are still swimming around in the drain away stream and a good majority of the old bikes I saw lying against the railway fence last year, are now covered in dormant bramble and vine weed. Give the still life another three or four months and the bikes will have been gradually pulled into a bushy darkness, ready to hold next year’s colourful flowers, etc. (Even if the local passers by use the bikes basket rubbish bin!!)

Super stuff this!!!
